How does a session work?

Sessions are held at either your home or an agreed upon location. (I have lots of ideas!) I generally book at least several weeks ahead, and I take limited sessions, so please contact me to schedule your session as early as you can. I like to photograph newborns within their first two weeks of life, so please let me know far in advance in you are considering a newborn session.

I am a natural light photographer, so the most important thing is that we schedule where there is beautiful natural light, either outside or from windows. Sessions usually last between 1-2 hours, but I won’t leave until I’m confident  I’ve gotten some great shots! Newborn sessions can last up to four hours, to allow time for feeding and snuggling. I love to discuss clothing and styling, and choose the perfect location with you.

I want to work with you to find out what your “must have” shots are. My goal is to get the “posed”, “everyone smiling at the camera” shots that you (and Grandma!) want, but to also capture more candid, be-as-you-are photos . You won’t hear me say “Say cheese!” Instead, you’ll hear me making animal noises, see me pretending to fall, and walking around with things on my head. Sigh. It’s all in pursuit of the perfect shots……and I LOVE IT!

Within a day or two of your session, there will be a “sneak peek” posted on this website. You’ll get to see the first few photos that I chose to process, and hopefully it will hold you over until the rest are finished. Then I will spend some time hand processing each image to make them the absolute best they can be. Sessions are usually completely edited within three weeks. I will contact you  when your proofs are ready to be viewed online, and all ordering can either be done through me, or in the comfort of your own home with my online ordering! . After your order is submitted, your photographs are delivered to your home, usually within a week. See? Easy-peasy.
